THE STATION
Briancon
Briançon, nicknamed the “Vauban City”, is an iconic destination in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes. Perched at an altitude of 1,326 metres, it holds the title of the highest town in Europe, offering a spectacular panorama of the surrounding mountains. Briançon is distinguished by its rich historical and cultural heritage, with its fortifications designed by Vauban, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In winter, Briançon becomes a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. Its proximity to the Serre-Chevalier ski area, one of the largest in the Southern Alps, allows visitors to enjoy ski slopes suitable for all levels, as well as a multitude of activities such as snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
In summer, Briançon becomes the ideal starting point for breathtaking hikes in the Écrins, mountain biking, climbing and rafting on the Durance. The town itself, with its narrow streets, fortifications and architectural heritage, offers a unique cultural experience, perfect for immersing yourself in local history.
